OUR HISTORY

On a chilly November day in 1946, Kredit & DeWaard opened it’s doors to a block-and-a-half long line of people waiting to get in. Originally a Firestone Tire Dealer, they sold everything from household goods, hardware and paint, to major appliances and tires.

In 1962, Kredit retired and Rube Bode joined his brother-in-law Jake DeWaard, to form DeWaard & Bode. Starting with only a few family members as employees, DeWaard & Bode has grown to over 50 employees today.

Over the years DeWaard & Bode has expanded from tires, hardware and household goods to electronics and more major appliances. Today, however, they focus solely on major appliances and mattresses earning the name “The Appliance Giants”.

Today DeWaard & Bode operates under the same philosophy that Jake & Rube started with; honesty, integrity, hard work and ensuring the customer always comes first. Because of that DeWaard & Bode has a full Service Department to help best serve their customers needs, backing the claim “We Service What We Sell”.

With two locations, one in downtown Bellingham on Cornwall and the other on the corner of Hannegan & Bakerview, DeWaard & Bode is your hometown appliance store.
