Element sizes are weird

Bought this range a month ago. It was the only one that would fit in the existing space on a peninsula but I still had to have the Corian cut back. Took ages to find someone who could do this properly. Cost about $150 for that and was a mess, but the stove was on sale probably an older model. No problem - I am not a great cook nevertheless I like to eat. I have fairly new Cuisinart SS cookware. They are not a set. The diameter of the largest element on this range is nearly 3 inches wider (so <1.5 inches around the pan) than my largest (3.5 liter) sautŽ pan (8.5 inch diameter). So, I cannot use that burner. The double burner will hold a 3.5 liter saucepan which is about 1 inch wider than the inner burner. The instructions say there should be no more than 1/2 inch difference. Am I supposed to buy all new cookware or what? The rest of my cookware fits the smaller burners more or less. I used the saucepan this morning on the inner element. It seemed to work fine - cooking slow oatmeal for 15 minutes only had to set out on 2-3 after bringing to boil. The oven seems to work fine although all I have used it to do is make toast under the broiler. I have nearly always cooked on electric, so I am not fussed about the heat-up and cool down about which many people who prefer gas complain. It is a very nice range. I would recommend it only if you are not big on cooking and want to buy pots and pans to fit these elements. (Unable to upload photo.)

An aluminum tray we placed on the bottom to help keep it clean welded onto the surface. There is an aluminum warning embossed in practically the same color. So, we had to buy another oven bottom within a month of purchase. Also, many slide-in oven manufacturers' have trim kits available to make the sides and back of their ovens look built-in and keep crumbs and liquids from spilling into the gaps. Frigidaire (manufacturer Electrolux) doesn't!

I've had the stove for about a month now and am mostly happy with it. Heats up very fast and cooks evenly. However the SS? bar across the front of the stove seems really flimsy, makes the cooktop hard to clean and rattles at times. The stove hums occasionally as well.

It's the same as the unit we replaced.

We replaced the older unit of 19 years to get quicker burner response. The new unit is exactly the same except for the way it replaced the old slide in. I had to modify the old area by about 1. I was told that the new unit would slide in exactly the same spot.

I like the way the elements cook, and I like the various sizes of elements. I also like the controls, the light/fan features, etc. I do NOT like the length of time it takes to clean the top, and I do not like the greasy look the special cleaner leaves on the top. But what I really hate is the way the oven racks spill downward as you attempt to pull them out. My husband finally figured out you have to carefully balance everything while pulling the rack out until it 'catches' on a hump in the back. So everyone, pull the rack all the way out before letting go. That way you won't have the cooked meal dumped all over the opened door the way mine was.
