Best Dishwasher for the Money

This Kitchenaid dishwasher replaces a 15 year old one, which replaced another 15 year old one; you can see I'm pretty loyal to Kitchenaid. The old one still worked fine, it's just that after 7 years some parts are hard to get, though the pump and motor are time-tested Kitchenaid work horses. Also we have a big Christmas dinner for 25 people and I didn't want to deal with a dead machine on Christmas Eve. Like so many people these days, I did an Internet search, and, as usual, left feeling confused about whether to buy a different brand. I buy appliances for my customers and myself from a local family-owned appliance company, so it was easy just to tell them what I wanted and what they thought was the best dishwasher around; it was Kitchenaid again.

Deeply regret this purchase

I bought this dishwasher 6 months ago to replace another brand that worked flawlessly for 10 years until the motor gave out. I debated about brands but selected KitchenAid because I wanted to support a US company. Huge error. I loved the dishwasher until it started working erratically at 1 month. At 2 months, the control panel failed. Now at 6 months the motor has failed. Both times, the customer support people were lovely and the warranty repair company has been excellent. However, both times I had to wait over a week for an initial appointment and then take two full days off work (1 for the diagnostics and another a week later for installation of the new part), because it was not possible to narrow the service window to a specific time of day earlier than the night before. I have never in my life had so much difficulty with a new appliance, and a web search suggests that my experience is far from unique. I see that most reviews here are overwhelmingly positive but also that they are related to a sweepstakes, which may be relevant. Today's service repairman shared that he has many service requests on KitchenAids that are in their first year of use.

I've owned this dishwasher for almost a year and it's the best I've ever had. I love the adjustable brackets on the bottom shelf and everything comes out sparkling! I am very satisfied.

I've had this dishwasher for about 6 months now. It's quiet and efficient. There are tons of different types of washes you can choose from which makes it nice for the variety of dishes we have.
